Technology organizations need to be redesigned as companies grow, not just expanded. The flat structure that worked when everyone knew each other and communication was informal becomes a coordination problem at scale. The generalist roles that made sense when the team was small become bottlenecks when specialization is needed. Companies that let their technology org structure grow organically without deliberate design end up with accountability gaps, unclear escalation paths, and leaders who are too stretched to develop their teams.
